Elegance, determination and love: the spirit of India Moni at Miss Europe Continental

Hello everyone, my name is India Moni and I’m 20 years old. I born in Italy, it’s 10 years that I’m living in Spain and I represent Andorra.

• India, you’re a young woman and also a mother. What does it mean to you to be a mom at this age?
This wasn’t planned, but it’s the best thing that happened to me. Being a young mother has positive and negative sides like everything. On one side, I have to balance my life between going on with my job and hobbies, and taking care of my baby. But on the other side, being so young, I can dedicated all the time and energy for her.

• How do you manage to balance motherhood with your modeling career, and now also with participating in an international pageant?
It’s not easy. Fortunately, I have my family closed to me, and they help me. For simply things, I try to organize it in my free days of work, and in this international pageant it’s a little complicated. But with the help of my family, I manage to find time.

• What has your child taught you about yourself? Is there something new you’ve discovered through becoming a mother?
She taught me to be more responsable and mature. Also I learned that my life is not focused only on myself, and now the priority change.

• What kind of mother do you strive to be, even with all your professional commitments?

I believe that it’s possible to combined my professional commitment and my motherhood with love and hard work.

• Tell us about your journey as a model, how did it all begin, and how has your path evolved over time?
I started with a simple model agency, but they wasn’t professional and I decided to leave it. After the birth of my baby, I decided to focus and go on looked for occasions and search for myself, accepting all the occasions to amplify my experiences. Personally, I don’t consider myself like a professional, but my goal is to enter in this world, to create a career.

• Have you had a role model in the fashion world? Someone you looked up to an icon or a mentor?
I had many local experiences for a local fashion brands on various locations (catamaran, hotels, beaches) and photo shootings for sport catalog. I also did a carnaval runway and participated at festivals.
The icon that I follow is Shalom Harlow, because I admire the way that she moves on the runway.

• What has been the most meaningful experience in your career so far? A runway show, a photoshoot, or a particular moment?

On one side, I did a photoshoot with a professional photographer and seeing the photos, I realized my possibilities. And for the other side, I did a carnaval runway and it gave me the adrenaline that I was looking for, and I know that this is what I want to do.

• How are you preparing to step onto such an important stage like Miss Europe Continental?

Physically, I do exercise with heels for the runway and take care of my figure. Mentally, I am preparing for the journey and the big experience.

• What values do you believe are essential for a Miss Europe Continental contestant today?

I believe that the more important values in an international pageant today are elegance, femininity, loyalty, determination, honesty and comradeship.

• What do you expect from this experience? What would you like to take away from it, both personally and professionally?
I expect to have a complete experience with other girls from different parts of the world, in a city which I never seen before but I always want to visit.
Professionally I hope to learn as much as possible from this new experience, and personally this will take me nearer to my goal.

• What is the biggest dream you hold in your heart, both as a woman and as a professional?

I believe that there is too much malice in this world, too many wars, too many inhumane acts and too many lies. My biggest dream it’s not personal, but global, that this world can ones and for all could be together, in peach and harmony, indifferent of color and races. But to be available to do it, everybody has to stop hate and violence. I dream that one day we can have a better world for me, my daughter and everybody.

• How do you envision your future 10 years from now?

I see to had important experiences without regrets. To have success in my career and have become a model who inspired other people. And most of all to have shown my daughter and myself, that being mother and having dreams is possible.

• Is there a special message you’d like to dedicate to your child, if one day they see this interview?
My message for her is to believe in herself and never give up. It doesn’t matter what other’s says or thinks, because she will always find people contrary, but that shouldn’t stop her fighting for her dream. She will have all the capacity to do whatever she wants. The best way is not always the easiest way, but I am sure that whatever dream she has, she will conclude. That she is happy is the most important thing.

• Thank you for your time India and for sharing something about yourself with the Miss Europe Continental community. See you soon in Naples
