How does it feel for you, as an Omani fashion designer with a global presence, to join the team of Fashion Designers at Miss Europe Continental Edition 12, contributing your cultural heritage and unique vision to such an international platform?
It is truly an honor to be part of the official team of fashion designers at Miss Europe Continental. For me, this is more than just an international platform — it is an opportunity to represent Arab fashion on a global stage. Coming from Oman and carrying my cultural heritage, while also being deeply connected to Europe through my personal life and professional work, I feel I bring a unique perspective that blends tradition with innovation. To join such a dynamic team is both humbling and empowering, and I am proud to contribute my voice to this celebration of global fashion. What makes this moment even more special is the feeling of finally being able to present my work in my second home, Italy. For more than 20 years, as a wife and mother to an Italian family, Italy has been an inseparable part of my life. Sharing my creations here is not only a professional milestone but also a deeply personal and emotional one.
What inspires your collections, and how do you translate Omani heritage, European influences, and personal experiences into modern couture?
My inspiration is always rooted in my surroundings and my life journey. The golden tones of the Omani desert, the elegance of Arab traditions, and the sophistication of European culture all come together in my designs. Living between Oman and Italy for more than two decades has given me the privilege of seeing beauty through two cultural lenses. This cross-cultural exchange constantly inspires me to create designs that honor my Arab heritage while reflecting the refinement and timeless elegance of Europe.
How would you describe the women you design for globally, from the Middle East to Europe and the US, and how does your vision of femininity and strength shape your creations?
The woman I design for is strong, confident, and unapologetically herself. She values elegance, but she also dares to be unique. Whether she is walking a red carpet in Europe, celebrating a wedding in the Middle East, or leading a professional life in the United States, she carries her individuality with pride. My vision of women has been shaped not only by my Arab background but also by my life in Italy, where I have seen how femininity and strength blend beautifully in everyday life. This mix of influences allows me to design for women who embrace both their softness and their strength.
What are your upcoming global initiatives with Melis Arabia and Melis by Sahar Al Aufi, and how do you envision expanding your influence in international fashion?
I am focused on expanding my brands, Melis by Sahar Al Aufi and Melis Arabia, to reach new audiences internationally. My future plans include presenting at global fashion weeks, collaborating with international retailers, and continuing to bring Arab couture to global red carpets. At the same time, I am passionate about education — I will keep growing my masterclasses, both online and in person, to mentor young designers who want to embrace creativity and cultural pride. Italy also continues to hold a special place in this vision. Building bridges between the Arab world and Europe through fashion allows me to express both parts of my identity while inspiring the next generation of designers.
What advice would you give to aspiring Arab and international fashion designers who want to balance individuality, cultural pride, and innovation in their careers?
My advice is simple: never be afraid of your individuality. Fashion is not only about trends — it is about authenticity. Embrace your culture, your story, and your unique point of view. Work hard, stay disciplined, and always innovate. For me, my strength has come from embracing both worlds — my Arab heritage and my life in Italy. That duality has given me richness, inspiration, and resilience. I encourage every aspiring designer to take pride in their roots while also being open to the world. Your uniqueness will always be your greatest strength.
What do you hope to bring to and take from Miss Europe Continental — in terms of global exposure, cultural exchange, and showcasing Arab fashion on an international stage?
For me, Miss Europe Continental is about more than fashion — it is about connection. I expect this experience to be a platform for cultural exchange, where I can share the richness of Arab couture with an international audience while also learning from the creativity of others. And for me personally, presenting my work here in Italy — a country I have called my second home for over 20 years as a wife and mother — is especially meaningful. It allows me to share my designs not only as an international designer but also as someone who has lived, loved, and grown in this country. Italy has shaped me as much as Oman has, and to present my work here feels like a full-circle moment in my journey.
