Hi everyone! I’m Veronique Van Rooyen, an international model proudly representing South Africa. I’ve been in the fashion industry since the age of two, growing up in front of the camera and on the runway. Today, I’m not only a professional model but also a businesswoman and a proud mother to a beautiful boy who inspires me every single day. I juggle motherhood and modeling while managing my own agencies and studios, proving that women can truly have it all with the right mindset.
How did you start your career in the fashion industry?
I started modeling as a toddler, and the passion just grew stronger over the years. As I got older, I began traveling for fashion weeks and shoots, learning about the industry from every angle, posing, walking, branding, and business. My journey wasn’t always easy, but my determination and love for fashion kept me pushing forward.
What has been your most memorable experience as a fashion model so far?
One of my most memorable experiences was walking the runway internationally, representing my country on global stages. Every time I wear a designer’s vision and hear the applause, it reminds me why I fell in love with this world. But beyond the glam, the most touching moments are when young girls tell me I’ve inspired them, that’s unforgettable.
Who or what inspires you the most in life?
My son is my greatest inspiration. He gives me purpose and drives me to be the best version of myself. I’m also deeply inspired by strong women who build their empires, break boundaries, and uplift others along the way. I believe in surrounding myself with energy that’s bold, loving, and forward-moving.
Do you have a motto or quote that guides you in life?
Yes, “Stay grounded, work like a boss, and never forget your worth.” I believe that grace and grit go hand in hand. You can be soft and powerful at the same time.
How are you preparing for the competition, both physically and mentally?
Physically, I’m keeping my body strong and healthy through clean eating, exercise, and lots of water. Mentally, I prepare by practicing mindfulness, affirmations, and staying focused on my “why.” I remind myself daily that I’m not just walking for myself, I’m walking for all the women who dare to dream bigger.
What qualities do you think are essential for a beauty queen today?
A true beauty queen today needs confidence, empathy, authenticity, and a voice with purpose. It’s no longer just about how you look, it’s about the impact you make, how you treat others, and how boldly you represent who you are and where you come from.
What are your short-term and long-term professional goals?
Short-term, I’m focused on expanding my modeling agency, VU Models, and launching my new creative business, VU Studios. I’m also nurturing young talent through my model academy. Long-term, I aim to become a global brand, using fashion, media, and empowerment to transform lives, not just in South Africa, but around the world.
Is there a special message you would like to share with the international audience?
Absolutely. No matter where you come from, your dreams are valid. Don’t let the world tell you what you can or cannot be. Be proud of your roots, embrace your story, and always walk with confidence, even if your heels hurt. Your energy speaks louder than words, so let it shine.
