Hi Sara, how are you? Can you tell us more about yourself?
Hi, I’m Sara Koerselman. I’m 19 years old and I’m from Laren, where I live with my sister and my parents.
1. Where do you see yourself in five years?
I hope to have my diploma by then, and of course, I want to get as far as possible in the modeling world. That’s my dream. In five years, I’d love to have done lots of shoots and walked the catwalk
2. At 180 cm tall and with a strong camera presence, you seem like you were born for modeling. When did you first realize this path was meant for you?
My parents always noticed I had a doll-like face because of my lips. When I was 16, I started talking to them on the street, and it was always a dream to become a model because I’m tall and I want to draw strength from that.
3. Representing Scandinavia at Miss Europe Continental is a tremendous honor – how does it feel to hold that title on an international stage?
I’m incredibly grateful to be able to do this, and it’s truly a great honor. And I still can’t believe it, but I’m going to give it 200%.
4. You’ve already competed in national beauty pageants – what have those experiences taught you about yourself?
It’s made me more confident, but also that my height is a strength. And that I shouldn’t doubt myself, that I can do more than I think.
5. You’re still studying and simultaneously building a modeling career – how do you combine your studies with your passion for fashion and beauty?
I am indeed still studying. I’ve made arrangements with the school about it, since that’s what I want and hope to achieve a lot. I do everything I can online, so I naturally get as much out of it as possible.
6. Who inspires you, personally or professionally, and why?
Personally, I think my parents really inspire me. They always said that if you really want something, you’ll succeed. That’s how I was raised, and I’m very grateful for that. and professionally I think Doutzen Kroes everything she has achieved is my goal.
7. How do you hope your story will inspire other young people who want to follow a similar path?
I hope that with my personal story I can inspire people who are feeling down or who are also struggling with mental health issues to see that there will be a light at some point, even if it doesn’t feel that way. It’s very hard and difficult when people don’t understand you or can’t understand you, but go talk to someone.
8. If you could describe yourself with just three adjectives, which would you choose?
I find that a difficult question. I think I’m a go-getter; when I want something, I go for it, no matter how difficult it is. I think I enjoy humor; I like to joke around a bit, which keeps things fun and enjoyable. And finally, I think I’m honest; I’m always honest and sincere.
9. If you could walk a catwalk anywhere in the world, from Tokyo to Paris, which location would be your dream catwalk? And what would you wear?
I have many dreams. I’d wear Prada and Gucci, for example, but also Victoria’s Secret, Fashion Week, and locations like Tokyo and Milan—you name it.
