As the Top Sponsor of Miss Europe Continental 2025, Nicole Lee is proud to support the event by providing handbags for all contestants, each one a piece of wearable art. Founded in Los Angeles, this globally recognized brand has made its mark in over 40 countries, transforming fashion accessories into storytelling canvases. With a bold, feminine, and imaginative aesthetic, Nicole Lee’s mission is clear: to be a world leader in the fashion accessory industry, touching women’s lives through high-quality, innovative products that celebrate individuality.
In this exclusive interview, the team behind the brand shares insights into their journey, creative vision, and global ambitions.
– Can you briefly tell us about the origins of Nicole Lee? How did the idea start and how has it evolved over time?
Nicole Lee was born in Los Angeles from a clear vision: to transform handbags into storytelling canvases. The brand merges illustration, fashion, and narrative, each bag tells a story through its name and design. Our bold, feminine, and imaginative aesthetic has built a global community across more than 40 countries and led to the creation of a multi-brand ecosystem, including Nikky (our accessible line) and Nodu Nadu (focused on Gen Z).
From the beginning, we stood out with original illustrations, vibrant colors, and distinctive details that made every piece recognizable from afar. Over time, Nicole Lee evolved from a “handbag brand” to a creative platform: collaborating with artists, launching sub-brands for different audiences, and expanding into new categories like travel accessories and small leather goods. The essence remains: designs that tell stories and celebrate personality.
– What are Nicole Lee’s key markets today? Are there any specific countries or regions you’re focusing on for future growth?
Our key markets today include the United States and Latin America (with a strong presence in Mexico), followed by Europe (especially Spain, Italy, and Eastern Europe), and parts of Asia (such as Japan and Korea).
We’re currently investing heavily in Latin America and Eastern Europe, countries like Serbia, Croatia, and Romania, due to their aesthetic affinity and market dynamism. Mexico is a strategic engine for us, thanks to a strong network of female entrepreneurs and national retail presence.
– Your collaboration with Miss Europe Continental brings together two worlds that celebrate elegance, personality, and feminine expression. What inspired this partnership?
Nicole Lee and Miss Europe Continental share a common vision: femininity as a confident and expressive force. While the pageant celebrates elegance and individuality on stage, Nicole Lee translates that spirit into fashion pieces that speak for themselves.
This partnership connects two runways, the stage and the street and allows us to amplify the voices of real women who inspire others with their stories, style, and strength.
– Nicole Lee’s style is instantly recognizable: bold, feminine, and full of imagination. Suzy Han is seen as a key figure in shaping this vision. What is her current creative role, and how does collaboration work within the team?
Suzy Han is our Head Designer and Creative Director. She defines the narrative for each season, the color palettes, illustrated motifs, and material direction.
Our process is highly collaborative, from trend research and mood boards to digital sketches, print tests, hardware development, and prototyping. We constantly iterate based on feedback from sourcing, quality control, and sales data.
Today, Suzy also expands her role as a visual artist, bringing Nicole Lee’s universe into cultural spaces, all while maintaining close, daily contact with our customer base.
– What advice would you give to young designers or entrepreneurs in fashion who want to build a brand with international reach?
Here’s our advice for young creatives and entrepreneurs:
a) Define your brand DNA before you scale, what makes you unique and defensible?
b) Design with operations in mind: quality, cost, margins, and timelines are just as creative as your sketch.
c) Build a community, not just an audience: through content, service, and consistency.
d) Protect your intellectual property and invest in a strong supply chain.
e) Start small, listen to the market, and let data fine-tune your intuition.
– What can we expect from Nicole Lee in the near future? Are there new directions, collaborations, or challenges on the horizon?
We’ll continue to explore the intersection of art and fashion with themed capsules and cultural collaborations. We’re reinforcing growth in emerging markets like Latin America and Eastern Europe, and introducing immersive experiences with our top artists and designers.
On the product side, we’re exploring low-impact materials, smart features (like RFID and modular organization), and agile drops to respond quickly to trends without compromising quality.
– In a constantly evolving industry, how do you stay true to your identity while continuing to innovate?
Our compass remains steady: original illustrations, bold colors, and female-led narratives. We innovate by building on this core, through new printing techniques, hardware, textures, and formats.
We rely on data (sell-through, reviews, A/B testing) to adapt without diluting our essence. Limited editions and co-creation with our community allow us to experiment, learn fast, and stay uniquely Nicole Lee.
