“She believed she could so she did’’
Today we meet our Miss Ida Nielsen, from Denmark! Here her interview for Miss Europe Continental.
‘’Hi! My name is Ida Nielsen, I am 26 years old, and I am so proud to be representing Denmark in this competition. I am an educated teacher and in my spare time I do modeling work.
Many would say that I am a person with many sides. I have a very feminine side, where I love to do nails, put on make-up, etc. At the same time I have a very primitive side, where I love camping, bonfires and enjoying nature. It has always been a part of me since I was little.
In my spare time I also enjoy spending time with family and friends as well as playing sports. I have previously gone to dance and swimming, but for the last few years I got a new, big interest in gymnastics. Although I started doing gymnastics later in life than many others, it is never too late to start and learn something new.
I have a great passion for exploring the world around me and for developing myself, getting to know people and other cultures. My dream is to have the freedom to travel and be where I want.’’
- Is there in particular an event or something in your life that has marked you?
‘’My life has not been boring, and many things have helped shape me into who I am today. I like to feel myself developing and becoming a better version than the one I was the day before. That is why I also challenge myself a lot. I did this especially in the year 2022, when my life turned completely upside down for me, and where I suddenly only had myself to think about. I no longer had a dog, partner, home or work that committed me to Denmark, and therefore it became an obvious time to do something for myself. 2022 was the year I went on my first solo trips. I challenged myself very much in the sense that I traveled completely alone and I had never done that before. I got out of my comfort zone and it developed me so much. It gave me a sense of independence that I can do anything I want and with this my passion for my dreams and goals grew even more. All of this has thus helped shape me into the independent and passionate woman I am today.’’
- What is happiness for you?
Happiness for me is both the small and big things. For me, it is basically about having a positive and optimistic mind. To me, the belief in you, your dreams and goals and at the same time having the energy to be there for others is happiness. The greatest joy for me is when I can make a difference. When, as a newly qualified teacher, I had my own class of Ukrainian children from the war I could especially feel that I made a big difference to these children. I loved my work for that and it gave me so much joy that still lasts today.
- What is the phrase or quote you will never forget? Why?
“She believed she could so she did” is my favorite quote, as it says a lot about my life and about me, as who I am. I like to take on challenges and do whatever it takes to reach my goals. There is no limit to what you can achieve – it is only you.
- How do you feel about being here at Miss Europe Continental?
I am very much looking forward to participating in Miss Europe Continental 2023. It will be another challenge for me that will enrich me with more development and experiences. I am so excited for this experience, which I am sure, will be the beginning of a longer journey.
- What does fashion represent for you?
Fashion for me is about expressing yourself. It is a way in which you can create your own identity. We communicate not only verbally, but also non-verbally on the visual level. Through fashion you can express yourself creatively, which I experience especially within the modeling world. I have been modeling for six years, and every single time I have been to a photo shoot, I have learned more about myself, the way I express myself and what signals I can send to others. This is also why I have a great passion for photo shooting and model work, because I get the opportunity to express myself through this.
- How do you see yourself in ten years?
In 10 years, I have followed many of my dreams, where I have been enriched by many experiences and developed a lot both as a person and as a model. Privately, I have a wonderful family with a husband and children, whom I love endlessly. Hopefully, with my experiences in life, I can help support and inspire my children as well as others to believe in themselves and follow their dreams. I will continue to be curious about life, new experiences and focus on becoming the best version of myself.
- If you could make one wish come true, what would it be?
I would wish that this world could become a better place for everyone. Having experienced up close how war can affect people, I do not want anyone to experience this again. War, hatred and jealousy help nothing, let us instead just be good to each other in large and small ways. That is why my wish is; “create love – not war”
