Let’s meet Nicole Barbara, life between modeling and diving.

1. Tell me a little about yourself and your story. I see myself as a 23 year old woman who still has that little girl inside her full of hopes, dreams and desires. My mission is to make all of those little girl’s dreams come true. If I could describe myself in three words, it would be Committed, Passionate and Determined to anything I set my heart and mind to. Ever since I can remember, I was always passionate about wildlife conservation and fashion. Maybe it’s an odd combination, but I believe the reason I’m in this world is to do both. Aside from that, I’m also a very peaceful person. I love being in nature, I love being alone connecting with the Earth and the stars. I spent most of my childhood being an introvert reading books, so I perceive life in a very romantic way which led me to become a professional writer as well. I also really love parrots, and can’t go long without my pet caique. He’s like a baby to me, and I support him and care for him as much as I can.

2. What do you do in life and what are your dreams? Right now I’m a model and I’m involved in some acting roles with the Malta film industry. I‘m also training to become a professional scuba diver. My dream is to become successful as a model so I can use my voice to raise awareness for marine wildlife. I see myself being an advocate for whales, sharks and other marine mammals whilst also looking good doing it. I would love to work with and promote brands that are in favour of conserving our planet and its endangered wild animals. All it takes is a bit of creativity to merge the modeling world with the world of wildlife conservation, and I believe I can achieve that.

3. What do you expect from this experience? From this experience I wish to build a better platform for myself to be able to promote myself as a model and build a good foundation for my career. But most importantly, I will focus on enjoying this experience, take it as it comes and cherish the memory forever.

4. What advice would you give to other competitors? I think the best advice I could give is that the competition is never between you and the other women, but between you and yourself.

5. How are you preparing to face in the best way? I’m doing a lot of film work and photoshoots at the moment - it’s really important for me to build confidence and get comfortable in front of the camera and in front of other people as this will help me be better during the grand final of Miss Europe Continental. I have also started catwalk training with the Director of my current modeling agency. Furthermore, I’m taking care of my mind, body and soul by eating good food, stretching, exercising and meditating. I’m also doing embodiment practices to release any tension or stress that I might have.

6. Tell us about your future projects. In the future I will definitely continue my modeling and filming journey. It has always been one of my passions and it’s important for me to keep doing something I love. Apart from that, I’m also working to become a certified Scuba Dive Master and Free-Diving Master and I will use my certifications to be an advocate for marine wildlife conservation.
