The Patron against women violence
Did you know that at least one in three women (35 per cent) will experience some form of violence during their lifetime - more than one billion women worldwide?
Violence against women and girls is a hidden global crisis which knows no boundaries of geography or culture. But, marginalized women, such as poor women and girls, are most likely to experience it, most often at the hands of their husbands or partners.
Such violence is a violation of human rights and an extreme form of gender-based discrimination. It robs women and girls of their dignity, violates their fundamental rights, damages their health, reduces their productivity and prevents them from achieving their full potential.
We use every opportunity we have to raise awareness among our girls, and that is why I feel I should make this appeal to you women: I fight and I am one of the fiercest opponents of all kind of verbal, moral and most of all physical violence even if it justifies the noblest causes.
Violence is practised by human beings who have in themselves lies and wickedness, the experience convinces me that any kind of good can never be manifested in violence.
I invite all girls, women, mothers to denounce all kinds of violence because only with the help of all of you can we win this war.
