My name is Christine Lau, I’m 30 years old, and I proudly represent Malaysia, my beautiful homeland often known as “Malaysia, Truly Asia” . I currently live in Kuala Lumpur, where I balance my passions for modelling and corporate work with my advocacy for women’s empowerment and cultural appreciation.
– What does it mean to you to represent Malaysia on an international stage like Miss Europe Continental?
It is truly an honour and a dream come true. Representing Malaysia means carrying the heart of a multicultural nation and one that values unity, respect, and resilience. I feel a great sense of responsibility to showcase not just our beauty, but our kindness, strength, and diversity to the world.
– Which aspects of Malaysian culture make you the proudest and would you like to share with the world?
What makes me proudest is how Malaysia celebrates diversity with open hearts. Our festivals, from Hari Raya to Chinese New Year to Deepavali, reflect the beauty of coexistence. I would love to share our food, our traditions, and the spirit of “Malaysia Truly Asia” a living tapestry of heritage that makes our country one of the most welcoming places on Earth.
– How would you describe Malaysian beauty to someone who doesn’t know your country?
Malaysian beauty is diverse and authentic. It is a harmonious blend of Malay, Chinese, Indian, and many indigenous cultures. We celebrate our differences through our festivals, food, and everyday life. I would love to share our warmth, our hospitality, and the spirit of “Muhibbah,” which means living together in harmony. It shines from within, through confidence, compassion, and humility. It is the kind of beauty that tells a story, shaped by our cultural richness and love for life.
– Have you always dreamed of participating in beauty pageants? How did it all begin for you?
Yes, I have always admired how pageants empower women to use their voices for good. My journey began when I realized that beauty isn’t just about appearance, it’s about purpose. I wanted to challenge myself, grow, and inspire others to embrace their individuality.
– What has been the most formative moment in your journey as a Miss so far?
One of the most meaningful moments was when I connected with young women who told me my story inspired them to believe in themselves. It reminded me that true success isn’t about the crown, it’s about the impact we leave on others.
– How are you preparing yourself to face this new international experience?
I am focusing on both inner and outer preparation, improving my communication skills, staying grounded through mindfulness, and keeping myself physically and mentally strong. I also spend time learning about global cultures, so I can represent Malaysia with greater awareness and confidence.
– In your opinion, what is the role of a Miss in today’s world, beyond physical beauty?
A Miss should be a role model, someone who inspires, educates, and uplifts. In today’s world, she must use her influence to advocate for causes that matter, promote empathy, and show that true beauty comes from intelligence, integrity, and kindness.
– What values best represent you as a woman and as an ambassador of your country?
Grace, resilience, and authenticity. I believe in staying true to who I am, no matter the circumstances, and in lifting others as I rise. These are values deeply rooted in the Malaysian spirit. These values also reflect both who I am and what Malaysia stands for, a nation that thrives on unity, respect, and inner strength. I strive to embody these qualities wherever I go.
– Is there someone who particularly inspires you, either in life or in the world of fashion?
I’m inspired by women like Malaysian Hollywood star Michelle Yeoh, a proud Malaysian who embodies elegance, talent, and perseverance. When she received her Oscar, she said, “Ladies, don’t let anybody tell you you are ever past your prime. Never give up!” Those words remind me that with self-belief and determination, we can continue to grow, shine, and inspire others. She shows that with hard work and self-belief, we can shine anywhere in the world.
– Where do you see yourself in five years? What do you dream of achieving?
In five years, I see myself continuing to grow, perhaps launching initiatives that empower young women in Malaysia and beyond. My dream is to become a voice for confidence and compassion, helping others see their own potential. I would also working closely with initiatives like Visit Malaysia 2026 and beyond, to promote our tourism and showcase the true essence of Malaysia to the world.
– What advice would you give to young girls in Malaysia who dream of becoming a Miss?
Believe in yourself and never compare your journey to others. The most beautiful thing you can wear is confidence. Work hard, stay humble, and remember, being a Miss isn’t about perfection, it’s about purpose.
– If you had to describe the experience you’re about to live at Miss Europe Continental in just one word, what would it be?
“Empowering” because I believe this journey will shape me not only as a woman but also as a representative of my country and my values on an international stage.
